State Arrest Stats Need Analysis

State officials say they need time to analyze a report on how often black men and women are arrested in Colorado. A new report shows that just over twelve-percent of arrests and citations issued in Colorado last year were given to African-Americans. The Division of Criminal Justice report notes that African-Americans make up about four-percent of the state's total population.

Elected officials contacted by the "Denver Post" say the issue is very complex and needs even more study.
