Tell your friends and relatives to beware of random swindlers. On February 13th, a Norwood woman claims she was called by a people who said her grandson had been hurt and arrested in the Dominican Republic. The grifters demanded money gram for $860.00 to get the grandson out of trouble. The woman was was allowed to speak with her "grandson", who explained his sudden Hispanic accent as a result of his broken nose.
The victim didn't take the bait. Authorities say this is the first time they've have heard of this scam in San Miguel County.
